Allah (God) in the Sacred Scriptures

Allah God

Allah, The Creator (God) in the Sacred Scriptures (Old Testament, Bible, and Quran)

Say: ‘People of the Book (Scripture)! Come to a word common between us and you: that we shall serve none but Allah (The one God only) and shall associate none with Him in His divinity and that some of us will not take others as lords beside Allah.’ And if they turn their backs (from accepting this call), tell them: ‘Bear witness that we are the ones who have submitted ourselves exclusively to Allah.’(Chapter 3: Surah Al Imran 64 translation ABUL ALA MAUDUDI)

ALLAH ( The God) When we look around the world and look up at the sky, we know that there must be some creator who created the universe and all creations. In Arabic, the people say ALLAH, which means the only creator with no partners, in English, this is referred to as “the God,”  the only God to be worshipped alone with no partners associated.

Are there other gods besides Allah

Chapter 21,Surah AL Anbiya verse 22 Quran translation Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Had there been other gods besides Allah in the heavens or the earth, both realms would have surely been corrupted. So Glorified is Allah, Lord of the Throne, far above what they claim.

Isaiah 46:9 English standard version

Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.

Deuteronomy 32: 39-40 King James Version

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. For I lift my hand to heaven and say, I live forever.

 (Isaiah 43:11 King James Version)

I, even I, am the LORD; there is no saviour beside me

Deuteronomy 6:13 King James Version

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

(Chapter 30,Surah Al Ikhlas 112 Quran translation Tafseer Ibn Kathir).

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

  1. Say, “He is God, the One.
  2. God, the Absolute.
  3. He begets not, nor was He begotten.
  4. And there is none comparable to Him.”

Explanation

Say there is only one ALLAH, (The Creator/Sustainer /God). The One Who does not give birth, nor was He born, (because there is nothing that is born except that it will die, and there is nothing that dies except that it leaves behind inheritance, and indeed Allah does not die and He does not leave behind any inheritance). And there is none comparable to Him.( This means that there is none similar to Him, none equal to Him and there is nothing at all like Him.”)

(Chapter 30,Surah AL Ikhlas 112 Quran translation Tafseer Ibn Kathir).

Micah 7:18-19

Who is a God like unto Thee, that pardoneth the iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He retaineth not His anger for ever, because He  delighteth in mercy.( Micah7:18-19).

Deuteronomy 6:4–9

  1. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord (The God) is one.5. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Isaiah 45:14

Thus saith the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall go after thee; in chains, they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee, and there is none else, there is no God.

Isaiah 45:18 King James Version

18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.

Allah (God) never gets tired and never needs rest, He doesn’t sleep, He is never born and will never die

Chapter 2 Al Baqara: Surah Ayatul Kursi verse 255

Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence.
Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep.
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.
Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills.
His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not.
And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Isaiah 40:28 King James Version

28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? His discernment is past searching out.

Allah (God) said in the sacred Scriptures and in the Quran that No one will reap except what they sow

Say, ˹O Prophet (Muhammad SAWW),˺ “Should I seek a lord other than Allah while He is the Lord of everything?” No one will reap except what they sow. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of your differences.

Ezekiel 18:20-32 King James Version

20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Exodus 34: verse 7-8 King James Version

keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.

Allah (God) has prohibited worshipping any graven image even those that Allah had praised.

Hadith (Saying of the Last Prophet Muahmmad SAWW);

Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 427, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi

“Verily, when a righteous man among them would die, they would build a place of worship over his grave and carve these images within it. They will be the worst to Allah on the Day of Resurrection.”

Chapter 39: Surah Az Zumar 45-49

45.Yet when Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter are filled with disgust. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O Allah—Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the seen and unseen! You will judge between Your servants regarding their differences.”47. Even if the wrongdoers were to possess everything in the world twice over, they would certainly offer it to ransom themselves from the horrible punishment on Judgment Day, for they will see from Allah what they had never expected.48. And the evil ˹consequences˺ of their deeds will unfold before them, and they will be overwhelmed by what they used to ridicule.49. When one is touched with hardship, they cry out to Allah ˹alone˺. Then when Allah showers His blessings upon them, they say, “I have been granted all this only because of ˹my˺ knowledge.” Not at all! It is no more than˺ a test. But most of them do not know.

Exodus 20:3

1.And God spoke all these words, saying, 2.I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. 3. Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 4.Thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6. And showing mercy unto thousandth of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.

Final Thoughts: Allah (God) in the Sacred Scriptures

Allah (God) , as described in the Old Testament and the Bible, is the supreme creator alone and sustainer of all existence, Allah sent Prophets (it is said that 124,000 Prophets had been sent) to guide people to the righteous path. Many prophets were mentioned in the Old Testament Bible and the Quran, and some were not. From Adam , Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Ismail, and Jesus to the Last Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them all) taught us about the divine revelation, manners, and way of life. All Prophets taught us to worship Allah( God) alone  and not to worship others along with Him (ALLAH/God) and ordered us to pray, give in charity, be chaste, keep promises, and return what is entrusted to us. And be on the straight path always. We are all sent here for a purpose, as Allah didn’t create anything in vain. This life is a test for everyone.

Our purpose here is to seek the pleasure of Allah and do righteous deeds, as no one will bear the burden of anyone on the day of resurrection, and we will be asked what we have been doing in the world. The righteous will go to Jannah, and wrongdoers will go to Jahannum (hell), as mentioned above in the Quran, the Old Testament, and the Bible. Associating Allah (God) with partners is a sin that will never be forgiven. As we journey through life, we are reminded that our ultimate destination is to return to Him (Allah/God), and we should always watch over our actions.

A letter from the Last Messenger Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the mighty king Heraclius

Heraclius embraced Islam: If what you say is true, He (Prophet Muhammad SAWW) will very soon occupy the earth under my feet, and if I knew that I would reach him definitely, I would go immediately to meet Him ( The Last Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him); and were I with him, then I would certainly wash his (Prophet Muhammad SAWW) feet. ”
